As a child of the nineties who grew up watching and worshipping Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twilight was blasphemy in my eyes. Sparkly vampires that hunt animals and prefer mountain lions for their diet (the feline lover in me is fuming) or stalk their potential girlfriends while they are sleeping is beyond creepy for me.

Once bitten twice shy

If you are looking for a better human vampire romance story, I suggest checking out Jennifer Rardin’s “Jaz Parks” series. It’s about an ass-kicking lady bodyguard who falls in love with her boss Vayl, a steamy Romanian vampire. There’s a lot of intense chemistry going on between those two characters and it’s well written with plenty of wit, humour and a good healthy dose of violence. - Next page
