Have you decided how to spend the weekend? How about dedicating one day to remembering we’re responsible for our environment and that it is important to go green?
To raise the awareness of green-consciousness, Greentree Packaging partnered several other like-minded organisations to organise Heal the Earth 2011. The event is held to promote eco-friendly habits and practices that make a positive impact on our health and the environment.
Held at the Marina Barrage on 23 January, Heal the Earth 2011 has laid out a series of fun and meaningful activities for you to join in with your family and friends:
1) Break the Singapore Book of Records!
By congregating 10,000 people (yes, it can include you!), Heal the Earth 2011 aims to form Singapore’s Largest Human Logo. Through this activity, the organisers hope to convey the message that the earth is sick and by making green habits a way of life, we’ll be able to make a difference. Participants will together break the Singapore Book of Records and every participant will be given a certificate of participation.
2) Pledge to support Sustainable Packaging
Apart from creating a sense of green awareness, the 10 cents Pledge movement is another meaningful activity that you can participate in at Heal the Earth 2011. Together, participants will pledge that they’re willing to dump packaging that is harmful to health and the environment, and pay 10 cents more for sustainable packaging. Check out the initiative’s Facebook page for more information.
3) Learn more about Green and Organic Merchandise
There will also be booths selling green merchandises, organic and vegetarian food vendors, a fashion contest featuring fashion wear that are made from recyclable materials, as well as photo booths and performances at the carnival.
