Nestled in a quiet and serene corner of Punggol is Frienzie, a new Bistro & Bar that just opened in Janaury 2011. Sporting wholesome, value-for-money western fare, already it has become a popular destination for families and friends living in the area to gather. The place has become so popular that it is usually full by 7pm, even on weekdays. The restaurant takes reservations before 7pm. For drivers, there is also ample parking within the compound.
There is much to love about the calm and friendly ambience – located right along the Punggol River, the scenery of the natural forests and hill and water provides for a restful and relaxing atmosphere to unwind at after a hard day’s work. Al-fresco dining is also available and while the restaurant is open-air, it’s still very windy and cool. Gazing out at the un-spoilt beauty of nature, one almost feels as if this little jewel of a place is part of a paradise retreat and not part of Singapore at all. Kick-back and relax in one of their comfortable lounge chairs to the sounds of bossa nova and jazz from their stereo, with some booze from their bar, or enjoy some of the following chef recommended dishes:
The Jumbo Hamburger ($14.90) is a hearty beef burger topped with cheddar cheese, tomato and a deep fried egg that is still yummily runny on the inside. The beef burger patty is nicely spiced with fragrant rosemary (well-done) and topped off with a warm grilled sesame bun. The spicy fries that go with it are also a highlight as they are chunky and just the right amount of salty and spicy goodness. - Next page

food looks good and seems affordable huh!
[...] 8flo team was at Frienzie last week for a dining review. The review’s here – we’re loving the food and ambience! And that probably means that we’ll start [...]
The setting and food presentation over there looks really resort-like. Punggol is actually a great place to get away from it all. Sometimes, I feel that the city is a bit overdone so this place looks like a nice change from that.
i’m feeling like having some mussels and pork ribs now. DRoooool!
Thanks for the rec 8Flo! I brought my GF there for her birthday treat and she loved it! Guys, the location is definitely very romantic! It’s just beside the river!
