Facebook addicts have something new to tout in their Facebook status messages. Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) and HTC Corporation announced that SingTel customers will be the first in Asia to experience the HTC ChaCha, a next generation smartphone that is specially built for social networking on the move with its special Facebook button. For those users who prefer a bigger screen option that resembles the iPhone aesthetically, there’s also the HTC Salsa.
Boasting the same deep Facebook integration as the HTC ChaCha, the HTC Salsa provides a fast, high-performance smartphone experience. Capture the moment with the 5-megapixel camera or the front-facing VGA camera and immediately share it with friends on the generous 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touch display. Upload your photos to Facebook at the touch of a button. Also, a simple tap and hold lets you search any word or phrase selection in Wikipedia, Google, YouTube or the dictionary. For those with never enough space for all their photographs, videos and contacts, both phones also have a microSD™ memory card slot.
The Facebook button on the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa is context-aware, gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook. With a single press of the button, you can update your status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song you are listening to, ‘check in’ to a location and more. For example, you can take a photograph of friends on your phone and upload it instantly to Facebook by simply pressing the button. Or let your friends know what song you’re listening to by pressing the button while listening to music on the phone. The track is automatically identified and shared on Facebook.

With these new smartphones, you can also save on SMSes as it is simple to stay in touch with friends using Facebook Chat and Messages. Facebook messages and conversations are integrated within the phone and appear within text messages and email inboxes alongside regular conversations. What’s more, this phone is also ideal for the social mogul who might be a tad forgetful. When a phone call is made or received, the dialer screen displays friends’ latest statuses and photos, and even indicates if their birthday is approaching soon so that you can wish them a Happy Birthday when you pick up the phone.
Both phones are also powered with HTC Sense, an experience designed around many little insightful ideas. Ideas that seem so simple, you think, “why hasn’t any one else thought of that? The new HTC ChaCha will be available in stunning shades of Modern White, Phantom Black and Amethyst Purple exclusively through SingTel and SingTel authorized retailers at a suggested retail price of $438. The HTC Salsa is available in Blue through all mobile operators and authorized retailers at a suggested retail price of $568.
