Planning for an adventurous trip? Instead of doing road trips in Australia or backpacking in China, why not abandon the big cities and travel to the less developed nations (i.e Third World Countries)? Not only will it save you a hefty buck, but it’ll also open your eyes in an entirely new way.
Seychelles (East Africa)
Seychelles is a group of nations located in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar and there are lots of awesome attractions to look out for.The relaxing beaches of Seychelles are not so crowded compared to other popular beach destinations such as Hawaii. One of the beaches to look out for is Anse à la mouche, situated on the south-western coast of Mahé Island. The sparkling clear waters are suitable for swimming even at high tide. There is also a restaurant for you to dine just across the road from the beach. Check out Valle de Mai, the national park, too. It is the home of the largest seed in the world – the coco de mer.
Laos (Southeast Asia)
Laos is an almost forgotten country within Southeast Asia. Although it is not a shopping paradise like Thailand or a bustling city like Vietnam, the country offers a relaxing destination with many attractions yet to be discovered. In the city of Vientiane, there is an outdoor park with a collection of huge sculptures of Buddhas and many other Hindu and Buddhist deities. Remember to look out for the sleeping Buddha.
To experience the true Laotian way of life, visit one of their herbal saunas. These herbal saunas are usually run by temples. You may be surprised by their professional masseur. The intense herbal scent in the sauna room provides a transcendental and relaxing experience.
North Korea (Northeast Asia)
North Korea is possibly one of the most challenging destinations on earth. Be prepared as your every movement and behaviour will be watched. The only possible way to travel is via a guided tour. However, that shouldn’t stop you from travelling to this unique nation.
Kaesong was the capital of the Goryeo dynasty. It is the city nearest to the South Korean border. It offers many cultural sites such as the Confucian academy of Koryo Songgyungwan University (not to be confused with South Korea’s Sungkyunkwan University), which holds many art and cultural relics of Koryo dynasty and ancient tombs of Koryo kings.

Kumgangsan is a magnificent mountain, which South Koreans are also allowed to visit. The mountain offers scenic beauty complete with waterfalls, in every season, inspiring many different works of art.
Pyeongyang is the capital of North Korea. There are various propagandic landmarks such as the Juche Tower and also the statues and posters of Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung.
Also, if you have the opportunity, check out the Arirang Mass Games, the biggest event of all kind, recognised by the Guinness World Book of Records. The event is usually held between August and October. Witness many regimented performances focusing on Juche ideology and Korean culture at the Games.
