Tiger Beer invites all football fans to a screening of Barclays Premier League (BPL) action on Saturday, 15 October 2011. It will be held from 5pm to 12am at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, located at the lobby of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Both Manchester clubs in the BPL have made roaring starts to the new season and will take on tricky opposition in their respective matches on the day. The first match to be screened at 7.45pm will see Manchester United travel to Anfield to take on rivals Liverpool FC. This will be followed by Manchester City’s home clash with Aston Villa which will be screened at 10pm.

Tiger Season Ticket Holders will enjoy free flow of Tiger Beer from 7pm to 12am (excluding 9pm to 10pm) during the match screenings whilst members of the public can enjoy the free flow for just S$10. In addition, there will be fringe activities and games for all in attendance to enjoy during match intervals, with attractive prizes to be won. There will also be a free shuttle service from RWS to VivoCity from 12am to 1am.

MetaSport is proud to announce the fifth edition of its annual sprint suite of races in 2012. Formerly known as the Tribob Singapore Sprint Series, the event has been renamed as the New Moon Khcycle MetaSprint Series – following a prior renaming exercise of Tribob to MetaSport in May 2011.

New Moon and KH Cycle have decidedly come onboard as title sponsors to promote the sports of Running, Cycling and Triathlon in pursuit of positive etiquettes that encompass the highest level of sportsmanship and sporting excellence.

The series made its debut in 2008 with 1,500 participants as a first of its kind race event, and has since continued to gain traction from a growing enthusiasm in Triathlon and endurance sports within Singapore. Its format has been unique in attracting both first-timers and Singapore’s best triathletes, who use it as an opportunity to hone their skills for longer races later in the season.

Unlike a full-fledged Triathlon, the three-race series is designed to convert recreational runners to multi-sport in an unintimidating manner, offering them a fresh challenge. It begins with an Aquathlon (swim and run) on 19 February, followed by a Duathlon (run and cycle) on 1 April, and gradually leads up to a sprint Triathlon (swim, cycle and run) on 6 May. The first race will feature at Sentosa, moving on to Sengkang in the second, finally concluding at Changi Beach Park. Those raring enough to take part in all three races will accumulate points after each leg, which will be used to determine the respective series’ champion of each age group. Series winners will take away this year outstanding prizes such as Gucci watches sponsored by Cortina Watch, top-of-the-range Mavic cycling shoes, 6-month subscription to the SPH magazine of their choice, and more.

For the sake of recreational runners, the races have been tuned to suit every level of fitness and skill, infused with an element of fun and excitement that delivers the health benefits of multi-sport. The race schedule – spreading across February, April and May – allows beginners to build up their fitness and confidence levels progressively over a four-month period until they feel at ease to complete the final sprint Triathlon.

The event recorded its largest growth in 2011 among the youth and kids categories, and is expected to achieve a total participation rate of over 6,000 in 2012 partly due to a broader grass-root marketing campaign supported by Clear Channel’s island-wide bus stop panels. Over recent years the event has seen strong family participation with families of four or five becoming a common sight. There is also a corporate challenge where company employees can either take part individually or as a relay team.

Registration for the New Moon Khcycle MetaSprint Series is now open. Early Bird rates are available until 12 October 2011. Participants who register for the three-race package will be entitled to a 15 percent discount.

The University Club proudly presents Le Grand Chef, the first Asian film in its Food in Film series, which brings together lovers of both food and film. Halloween Horrors, the premier annual event at the Night Safari, returns this year with more macabre and hair-raising fun as the world’s first nocturnal animal park transforms into a circus of horrors. Themed as the “Carnival of Fear”, visitors will be immersed in maudlin scenes featuring freakish characters from both Western and Eastern genres. From creepy clowns and circus zombies to tormented nightclub performers and ghostly street hawkers, this year’s event will certainly not be for the faint-hearted.

Train of Terror

Visitors will get thrills and chills as they embark on a journey through the site of a circus train wreck on the popular Train of Terror at the Night Safari. Watch out for escaped “animals” and dead circus performers such as Xavier the Illusionist and Booseye the Knife Thrower, as they come back to life in the dark of night. A note of caution: the clowns love to hunt in a pack.

Dr. Freako’s Midnight Trail

Visitors can take a walk through Dr. Freako’s Midnight Trail along the Forest Giant Trail. A mad scientist who conducted brutal and unorthodox animal-human experiments, Dr. Freako and his creations will be showcased in all their gory glory here. These “failed” experiments still linger around the lab, so visitors should enter at their own risk! Be warned – they have a distaste for humans and feed on blood-curdling screams.

Graveyard Haunts

The extinction graveyard near the “Creatures of the Night” show will be home to countless animal victims of modern mass extinction. Amidst the eerie howls of deceased animal spirits, guests will be taught a hard lesson on how humans have played a part in destroying these species.

Shanghai Fright Club

This year’s Halloween Horrors signature ‘house of horrors’ is a haunted Shanghai night club set in the 1940s and 50s. Street hawkers and performers of the Shanghai Tang will rule the roost with an eastern twist. Visitors should take heed of the roaming spirits who will lure them into their lair with glitz and glamour, and be prepared to scream their lungs out as they unveil the club’s darkest secrets.

From 16 to 25 September, 313@somerst presents FASHION+REVEAL, its first ever holographic fashion ‘peep show’ — also the first in Singapore — as the main highlight of the mall’s extensive six-week FASHION+ campaign.

Serving more than just their signature claypot rice, CLAYPOTFUN has just introduced a new all-day dining menu.
A 150-seater diner furnished with nostalgic 60s memorabilia to bring back the good old days, CLAYPOTFUN has been cooking up a storm since February 2009.

Well-known for its claypot style rice dishes, the new extensive menu now encompasses delectable new dishes that provide greater dining choices throughout the day.

A compact selection of dim sum is available from 8am to 5pm daily. Popular classics worth trying are the fried carrot cake and yam cake. Chunky bits of fresh yam and radish add texture to the soft and lightly pan-fried cake. Take it with their special homemade chilli sauce for that added oomph. The crispy bun with butter and kaya is also a must-try as the sweet kaya and salty butter melts in your mouth as you bite into the crispy yet soft bun. A snack the kids will love for sure.

Another highly recommended snack is the seemingly simple fried fritter. With yeast added to the batter, it gives the snack a crispy crunch to reveal a soft, tender centre.

A new specialty dish in the menu is the cheong fun, or steamed rice rolls. Made from milling old rice grains into flour and adding water to form a paste before steaming into sheets, this homemade dish is nicely fine-textured and tastes exceptionally well with the superior soy sauce concoction.

Fried fritter with cheong fun or cha leong, wrapped snuggly with a layer of soft starchy cheong fun, makes a quintessential Cantonese treat. There are also the cheong fun with fresh shrimp and leek as well as mushroom and sliced chicken. These are made fresh from the kitchen as you order.

For a more filling meal, CLAYPOTFUN now offers claypot congee made with whole short-grain rice and cooked with fish stock to a smooth consistency. The sliced fish congee is flavourful on its own with the bits of fried fish and raw fish giving you surprises in every bite. For a more nourishing dish, the ginseng chicken congee makes the right choice as the sweetness of the wolfberries balances the bitter goodness from the ginseng. Congee is available all day at CLAYPOTFUN.

To complete your meal with a dessert, CLAYPOTFUN has introduced a Hong Kong specialty of steamed milk pudding, a mixture of egg white and milk steamed to render a creamy custard. It is best served hot. There are other choices such as sweet potato soup, lotus seed soup and hasma with red dates.

This season, Club Monaco explores the 60s and 70s, mixing rock and roll glam with gypsy feels of the ultimate vagabond lifestyle.

Lightweight vintage print dresses with clean lines; pencil skirts with leather pockets, and airy blouses with encrusted crystals give the Club Monaco girl a modern bohemian vibe.

As the temperature drops further as we approach the later months, the colours get richer in cinnamon, berry and gem hues. The look then turns to longer skirts paired with the perfect feather bomber and 70s vintage print tunic dresses with a classic trench.

The debut of the printed tunics in this collection is also a departure from previous Club Monaco styles but it is a risk well taken as the prints look delicately feminine and classic.
